Hailey's 7th Grade Poem

Here is a picture of the girls from Father's Day at our church where you could box your Dad or your pastor or whomever after service. It was really fun.

Hailey just wanted me to read her Poem she wrote at the beginning of 7th grade. I warn you, it is pretty deep. It is surprising that my "little" girl thinks of all of these wild things. We never speak of these things at home that I remember but just the same she has a very similar heart to River in these areas. Here it is:


I Am

I am a stubborn girl who loves superheros
I wonder when the next book in the
Sister's Grimm series will come out
I hear the horrid silent cries of aborted
unborn children
I see awe inspiring adventures around
every corner when opening a book

I want people to understand and make a difference about
the horrible things going on around the world
I am a stubborn girl who loves superheros

I pretend to be somebody I'm not
I feel the people dieing and imprisoned
in China for sharing their beliefs
I touch only minuscule amount of what
people are experiencing in Darfur
I worry about the soldiers sacrificing
their lives for us every day
I cry for the lives lost on 9/11
I am a stubborn girl who loves superheros

I understand that people may never be able to
comprehend what is happening before their very eyes
I say the Lord God loves everyone in the universe
no matter their differences
I dream of the perfect world known only as Heaven

I try to do everything no matter how fearful I may be
I hope that everyone will someday love God
and have a relationship with him
I am a stubborn girl who loves superheros
