Sarah Palin

An American Woman's View On Sarah Palin

I am continually baffled by the character assassination that is being spat on me about Sarah Palin. I was a Huckabee fan (and still am - go flat taxes!) and when Sarah came on the scene at the last election I loved her speech at the republican national convention and every speech since then. I find myself the lone wolf that likes her among my conservative friends, and to that I am sincerely shocked.

Here we have an individual that shares all of the conservative political views I have such as small government, pro- small business, pro-life, anti-spending, dig for oil here in our homeland, anti- special interest groups elbowing their way into the laws of the land without public support. She has a history of being the first female Governor of Alaska for 4 years and in that position,  became a Governor for the people.  She therefore rose to be the most  popular Governor Alaska has ever had according to her ratings. She is known for exposing corruption - Republican and Democrat. I think being Governor prepares someone to be President more than any other job as it is like running a small country with a staff and budget as well as working across the isle to get things done. Sarah has  been a fantastic leader, speaker, author, inspirer, and all around good hometown American person.

So why is it that not ONE man that I have met (who by the way has all of the same political views as Sarah) would not vote for her? She is even a born again, spirit-filled Christian and all of the male ministers I have talked with do not like her. I hate to say this, but it appears to be the only reason that men don't like her is that she is a woman and therefore can not be trusted.  I didn't know being a woman was a bad thing. If it is, we should tell our daughters to limit themselves, not to speak up, don't do well in school or do anything of significance. Can you imagine if we would think that about an African American person or a Hispanic person? Saying "they are African American/Hispanic so they are not to be trusted, they are stupid" is crazy talk. Yet this is the line of reasoning I am hearing about women through the character assassination of Sarah Palin and I am here to stand up and say that is not okay.

Go ahead and Google pictures of Sarah Palin (and there are loads of photo shopped photos of her likeness) flashing fake spliced in boobs or butt bending over offends me. Do we see the same thing when we google Obama's photos? George Bushes photos? No way, it is just the women of this country who get exploited and are lacking the protection and respect you would give to your daughters. If people insult President Obama they are called a racist. I think it is a time to come up with a word for people who unjustly treat Sarah Palin like a stupid prostitute. I think these people should have a name so that they can wake up and see their hypocritical actions. I am all for making fun of people for a good laugh. Sarah is too as you saw on her appearance of Saturday Night Live. But there is such a thing as sexual exploitation and insulting 1/2 of the population in the process - all women.

I have been told so many times that she is stupid, and idiot, infantile, not deserving of respect. But it is difficult for me to believe that ANY person who has risen to the point of Governor of a State is Stupid. Can you become governor of your state? Before she was elected governor, she was a member of the Wasilla, Alaska City Council from 1992 to 1996, and the city's mayor from 1996 to 2002. After an unsuccessful campaign for lieutenant governor of Alaska in 2002, she chaired the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission until she became Governor (a loved Governor at that). An individual whose past and current staff sing her praises continually could not possibly be "stupid".

This is me and my adoring wonderful husband. He is not a Sarah Palin fan either.

I have said it before and I will say it again, it seems to me that when ever there is a powerful woman, people seem to put that woman in one of two boxes (stupid or a bitc_.) When this happens to women leaders I cringe as I hope and pray that this horrible fate does not fall upon me and my girls one day as well.

Lets do that with every powerful man. Let's say that every powerful man in politics, on the news, in Hollywood, where ever,  is either stupid or a dic_) See how crazy that even sounds to imply that? It seems like the person calling Sarah stupid is stupid themselves because they are honestly ignorant of her past  accomplishments.

Having read both her books, listened to her speeches, learned about what she takes a stand on,  it is ridiculous to say that Sarah is stupid and every conservative or Republican who name calls Sarah is participating in "friendly fire".

Some have said to me that her show makes her unprofessional. I am guessing they mean the TLC show and not her political commentary show for Fox News. I think the TLC show was a fantastic idea. It helped people to understand who she is, where she is from, and that being from Alaska does not make you dumb or out of it, it makes you a hard working, nature loving, mountain climbing, pioneering American. I think people needed to see that so they could relate to her and see that she really is a strong woman (in the good sense) as well as not a talking head from the DC loop who is looking out for themselves over the American people. Sarah Palin is a real person with a real family and convictions that guide her to help make America the best it can be.

In truth, the President of America is a glorified hand shaker, inspiring America to greatness. As they show face at event after event day in and out, it is the staff they hire that when the rubber meets the road gets the job done. I believe that Sarah would choose the best people for the job at hand and if they did not do their job well, I know she would fire them without a hint of worry about what powerful people think.

One of the reasons I like Obama is he seems like a sincere person with sincere convictions. I respect that. Even though I do not agree with universal heath care (I have had Government health care as through the state every poor person receives free health care anyway) and is sucks big time, the worst imaginable experiences of my life flash before me with the Government health care I and my children received. I also don't agree with his repeal of the partial birth abortion ban. PBA is for late term abortions that when the baby is delivered could survive. It basically delivers the baby (because any mother knows once the head is out the rest of the baby slips out in 3 seconds) and then puts scissors in the baby's neck into the head and brain and cuts the spinal cord and chops up the brain. Almost NO ONE agrees with this practice, even the most liberal of liberals, except Obama. But even though I disagree with his political views, he is a great speaker, a great inspirer. I also am so glad to have an African American in high office. It is about time we have people from different faiths, cultures and sexes representing us. What an inspiration for African American's world wide which will be more world changing than any socialist government he tries to push on the independent American people.

People have said that  in Sarah Palin interviews she seems dumb. Don't they realize they are looking at at 10 min. edited down version of 2 to 4 hours of interview that has been specifically created to make her look dumb by the liberal media? Watch her unedited speeches on youtube and see for yourself what she is really saying and decide for yourself without being spoon fed if she is smart or dumb.

Also don't allow people to put down and insult a Christian woman leader, that is low class. Rise above that and defend her as she represents you (if you are a Christian Conservative) and women everywhere.

Margaret Thatcher, born in 1925 served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990 and leader of the Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990. Thatcher is the only woman to have held either post. She was loved and respected as one of the most successful Prime Minister's the UK has ever known. I think America needs a President that represents a government that is of the people, by the people and for the people as Abraham Lincoln said in his Gettysburg address. I think that kind of Government is embodied in the heart of Sarah Palin.

I guess that is all I wanted to say for now. I am tired of hearing insults of a person whom I find to be a fantastic leader with whom I admire and aspire to be like. I am disappointed in our Christian leaders for not supporting and getting behind Huckabee and Palin. That would be a fantastic ticket!

Calling it as I see it,

Rev. Tracy Galloway

  1. Thanks for posting Tracy. I wish the women (and men) of America would stop allowing themselves to be spoon fed their opinions and be brave enough to decide for themselves as you have here.

  2. A great guy named Rod Koop who with his wife have been awesome friends to us over the years left this comment on my facebook today, thanks Rod!

    "Hey Tracy,
Teresa and I are from Alaska, live in CA and are preparing to move back to Alaska. We Love Sarah Palin. Like you we've noticed our liberal and conservative friends taking potshots at her for a long time.

    That's been very strange.

We both have brains and are reasonably smart people of faith. We'd vote for Sarah Palin in a heartbeat.

    Thanks for posting!"
