Every year Juan and I try to take a weekend away together to refocus on each other and rest. I think it is important for every marriage to have this alone time to reconnect.

This year we were visiting family in Alabama and had the idea to take the 3 hour drive to Destin, Florida. It was nice to enjoy our weekend in a warmer climate and stay at this quaint Bed & Breakfast Inn on the beach.

We could not believe how white the sands were and how blue the ocean was. It was like being in Cancun, Mexico!

When we first arrived and were waiting for our room, we were given bikes to ride while we waited and boy did we ride! The homes along the beach were just beautiful.

The food was included in the price and it was to die for. We enjoyed our meals out on the terrace as we looked at the sparkling blue waters.

We could only afford 2 nights here for this years trip but we needed time to rest after Juan worked 12 days in a row much of it day and night in New Jersey, Texas and Oklahoma.

This year we will be married 20 years so it was nice to do something special. We have changed so much, now we just lay on the beach reading and resting. There is a comfort and simplicity in growing old together. It's a beautiful thing.
