I love cliff notes. Just give me the facts. In fact most "teaching books" I blaze through and just take notes on the 3 most important things I found in that book while skimming through. I make a mental note to consciously incorporate one of the three into my lifestyle. A few years ago I read a book by Dr. Don Colbert called Toxic Relief. I have read my share of medical self help books but this one was actually good. Here are my notes so you don't have to read the book and you can get the benefit as if you had read it too. Your Welcome.
Before I give you the cliff notes for this book to help you improve your health I want to tell you 3 of my crazy ideas I had that I have never heard anyone say but just seem to make since to me. I thought of them as I was working out in the gym this morning.
Crazy idea #1: When a kid has a boo boo you leave it exposed to air and it heals quicker. It seems like air is a healing agent for our body. Therefore, I wonder if there is any medical evidence or testing being done showing that people who are inhaling more air through exercise or deep breaths have more of a chance of healing the inside of the body from it's ailments.
Crazy idea #2: The Finnish and many people who are decedents of Vikings in the northern regions believe strongly in sweating in the sauna to get toxins out of the body, in fact they do it almost every day without fail. Maybe if we are ill we need to sweat every day to get toxins out of our body?
Crazy idea #3: When visiting Bath, England I learned that during Roman rule of the area the Romans would sweat it out in a sauna like room and then scrape off dead skin with seashells. It seems like ex-foliating the skin would allow more air to flow through your system. Could this promote healing as well?
Enough of my ramblings...
Here are my notes on Toxic Relief - more for myself to refer to later but feel free to take a few for your own life if you like.
- buy a juicer and juice fresh fruits and veggies
- Consume 3-5 servings of living/organic veggies a day
- Consume 2-4 servings of Fruit a day
- relax, slow down
- cut the sugar, starch and fat
- no coffee
- steam veggies instead of boil
- No frozen veggies
- Best Veggies you should eat often in your diet: Cabbage (I chop it up in little sandwich bags in fridge for mid-day snack and eat it like chips). Cauliflower (once a week we steam one for dinner), Brussel Sprouts (we put on our sandwiches for lunch with avocado), broccoli (we eat 3 times a week with dinner), Kale (chop up small or buy frozen and mix into Prego sauce to pour over pasta, the kids will never know;), Collard greens, mustard greens, turnips, Legumes, all beans, beets, carrots, dandelion root, dandelion greens - I know I know I am not doing the crazy ones either. Brown rice (you can actually get this in boil in a bag in 10 min. with Uncle Bens), Wild rice.
- Stay away from wheat products, breads, bagels, crackers, pasta, chips, cereals. (For bread we buy Ezekiel Bread normal and also the cinnamon raisin it is gluten free and actually tastes good. It is based off of a scripture that tells people how they should eat grains in Ezekiel 4:9 - the bible) .
- Good fats: Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Avocados, raw fresh nuts (avoid peanuts and cashews)
- Drink lots of filtered water with fresh squeezed lemon or lime (2 quarts daily), green tea (three glasses a day cold or hot).
- Buy a hunk of fresh ginger root and keep it in the freezer, grate it over food you are cooking. (my personal tip)
- Use Curry seasoning in your cooking once a week, chicken or also add to soup - big cancer fighter and reduces inflammation in the body which causes autoimmune disorders and cancer. (my personal tip 2)
- Take 5 fiber capsules a day in the middle of the day with a full glass of water (my personal tip 3)
- Drink a full glass of water before eating each meal and then while eating SLOW DOWN, CHEW, take your time.
- If you need your liver to work better to clense your system of toxins take milk thistle every morning and night.
- 50-200 Milligrams of grape seed extract or pine bark extract per day.
- Cancer fighting foods you should incorporate into your diet daily: green and black tea, red wine, garlic (buy fresh and grate over most dishes you cook), tomatoes, peppers, red grapes, apples, berries (blueberries are really great for you, we buy them frozen and defrost them in the microwave to put on cereal or whatever), beets, (1000 Vit. D is a HUGE cancer fighter, take in morning though because it gives you energy and you don't want to be kept up at night - tracy's tip.)
Well, that is about it. When I read this originally I think I was doing 2 of these things and now 4 years later I can happily say I do almost all of these things and I am doing fantastic.
Good health, and good life to you,
Tracy:)
