Bunny Escapes for Love

Yesterday morning I woke up and started on some dishes in the sink left by the River and Hailey who had left for school. I peered out the window to my backyard and to my HORROR our bunny Ferdinand's (named after the children's story of Ferdinand The Bull who loves to smelllllll the flowers) hutch door was wide open with no bunny inside. My mind flashed to the day before when the bunny was out of his cage being held by the children during a visit from Doodad (thanks for the coffee delivery!) Anyways, I ran upstairs, threw on some clothes (was in my nightie) and shoes and called the boys to come outside to help me search for the bunny. The day would be spent searching the neighborhood for a little white and black bunny smaller than a loaf of bread but in my mind I was SURE he was gone forever. The boys had to go to school in 30 minutes and I was already coming up with a story in my head for them so that they would not go to school in tears. As I searched the back yard I thought about how there had been a little brown bunny in our yard the other night and I had called the boys to see it. Bing. A light bulb in my head. Just tell them that Ferdinand fell in love with the brown bunny and they went to make a home some where together. That would be good. As I summoned my courage to share this tale with the boys I saw a white fluffy tail through the corner of my eye. Two white fluffy tails in fact. Yes indeed, in our next door neighbors yard there was Ferdinand hopping and playing with the little brown bunny. I couldn't believe my eyes, he really did fall in love! Approaching carefully as the little brown wild bunny dashed away, Ferdinand let me pick him up and carry him home. Whew! I can't believe he stayed so close to home. Corban was SO happy. (It's his bunny). I told him it was a miracle he didn't take off to which Corban said, I prayed really hard so God must have heard my prayers. So alas, Ferdinand has a little brunette girlfriend.
