Apps For Your Toolbox

          Apps For Your Toolbox

Today I repaired a broken pipe in the basement that was squirting water 4 feet high in the air. Not like a water fountain, but with all the pressure of a fire hydrant (almost). This is inspiring today's friendly and helpful blog post I am sharing called: Apps For Your Toolbox.

1. To Hang Stuff Straight: iHandy Level Free - Tap this nifty app to get a precise measurement for frame alignment for frame alignment, angle measurement, and roof-pitch calculation, all from your iPhone or Android device.

2. To Work In Dark Corners: Flashlight + Safety Light - This basic but essential free app glows like a tiny flashlight to light up dark spots in a jiffy - great for tracking down fallen nails and working in the basement. With a high-visibility flasher and SOS signal, it can also double as a roadside assistance alert.

3. To Paint Walls: Color Capture by Benjamin Moore - If you think your morning smoothie woud make a great wll color, snap a photo of it with your iPhone or Android device, and let this hue-analyzing app show you the closest pain match. Save your favorite shades and share them via Facebook and Twitter for advice if you can't decide.

4. To Measure Smarter: Handyman Sidekick - Save time, money, and aggravation during your next trip to the home superstore with this app ($1.99). Whether you're wallpapering a room, figuring out flooring, or determining how much drywall you'll need, type the dimensions of your space into the calculators, and the tool will tell you exactly what to add to your shopping list. The app also offers quick conversions from yards to feet and vice versa.

Thanks Alison Caporimo for all of your lovely tips!

  1. Of course those who know me will chuckle at this post as I am a certified cell phone rebel and I choose not to carry a cell phone for freedom purposes. But for the rest of you plugged in people, this was for you :)
